[Drabble] Ryou/Rei x Yuka [Romance/Drama]

Once upon a time there was a Prince, stronger than strong and braver than brave.

Ryou hated being told that he might take over the throne one day. It was almost all that he was told ever since he was a child, so much so that one day he went to his father and demanded something be done. The Emperor had been furious, and in the end it had been Madoka and Ru who had suggested that he be given the title General.

That was why, he told himself, he could never dislike his siblings. They had given him a new life. But his new life was empty, and not even they could understand why.

Once there was a prince who would sit by himself, and wonder why no one understood him.

He liked to take walks outside and refrained from as much work as possible. People criticized him as lazy, deemed him unworthy of his position. Not like Ru, never like Ru…

But he brush them aside and go about life as himself. He would do his work and he promised himself, he would never give up his position. No matter what…

Once upon a time there was a prince with only one flaw.

"What a curious thing love is," Ru said knowingly.

Ryou shifted his eyes to his older brother for a few moments and then returned himself to paper work. "Yes," He replied testily, 'What is he getting at?'

"It almost makes us want to give everything up, doesn't it?"

"Perhaps you," His answer was sharper than he had intended it to be.

"But not you, never you," Ru smirked waving his fan in front of his face.

The younger of the two gulped back before he insulted him further, the red haired of the two had been this way ever since he had been promoted.

Soon enough the red head had, had enough and walked away.

There was once a prince who was always questioned, never left alone.

"Why did you promote him again?" Ryou question aggravated as he stared down his younger sister.

She returned his look blatantly, "I felt like it."

His expression turned incredulous, "And that's good enough for you?"

"Yes."

"Why?"

"I am Queen," A smirk came quickly as it left.

He rolled his eyes, "This is abuse of power."

"So true, so, so true," muttered a disgruntled looking Rikago.

They're attention shifted to him, "I forgot," Ryou said, half guilty, half amused, "You get the worse end of the bargain, being his best friend and all."

There was once a prince that knew his place and never questioned his duty.

"Madoka?"

"Hmm?"

"What would you give up to be with Advisor Li?"

The Empress looked up from her papers, "What?"

"You heard me."

"But I'm not with Advisor Li, which means I wouldn't give anything up."

"You're alright with that, not being with the one you love."

She froze, understanding where this was going. "You aren't me Ryou. You aren't Ru and you aren't me."

"I know, I know."

There was once a prince who wanted to change the world, but never found the nerve.

There was once a prince who became distracted.

"I'm done for the day." He muttered.

"But sire?!" His assistant stared, "We're not even done with half!"

Ryou looked at him and the other man shut up immediately. He hadn't been getting much sleep as of late. He got up and walked back to his room, 'I wish I could stop this…'

He closed his eyes remembering his siblings and how much they loved this.

There was once a prince who didn't belong.

He dropped his bags in front of his new room. For the rest of his life, and for the first time, he didn't have a care in the world.

He vividly recalled the conversation with his siblings. The older shocked, the younger expecting it. His contradicting pair, the ones that in the end knew what was best for him.

Her brown hair, her green eyes, her shocked expression, and her beautiful smile.

There was once a prince who fell in love with a commoner.

"I'm back."

"I know."

There was once a prince who lived happily ever after…

A/N: Hey! Okay, this is more of a drabble than anything else, but I guess this is what happens when you loose your muse half way through. –Sigh- Oh well.
