IF I HAD WINGS
by Jullie Midnight
***
If I had the wings of a bird,
I would scatter them, I would fly
Always forward, never backward.
I'd reach to taste the bluest sky.
Against the mighty wind I'd stand.
Just for one second of grandure
My wings again I would expand,
To meet the ocean's pure azure.
But even though I would feel free,
My soul, my heart would miss my home.
And in the end I would return
To the only place I come from,
'Cause there is something I would learn:
That home is where I long to be.
