The first time we met, he caught me talking to a mannequin. The second time we met, he caught me yelling crazily to the sky. The third time we met, I found out we went to the same school when I came out of the boy's locker room from a dare. Awkward...
My mom dragged me out of the house to go shopping at Macy's for clothes to wear during Christmas. She sent me to go look for my clothes, so I left. I thought I'd just look for some clothes, grab a pair of jeans, then go back to my mom. Except, we were in New York City right now, and at the biggest Macy's. Usually, we'd go to a smaller one, but my mom wanted to see the place, and I happened to be the one unfortunate person she dragged along.
I was supposed to get off at the fourth floor, but then my favorite song came up on my iPod and I started dancing and singing along. I don't know how, but I lost track of what floor I was on and somehow ended up on the tenth floor. I took the escalators back down, and ended up getting stuck on the seventh floor when the escalators broke down. So now I have to find the stupid elevators. And I hate elevators. I don't know why, but they give me this weird chill down my back.
But I was never the best at getting around. So naturally, I got lost. I ended up going in about five circles, and gave up entirely. And I hate asking for directions, by the way. If I can't find it by myself, then no one can! I think.
So now I feel pretty hopeless, after taking my ninth circle around this damned floor. Then I saw a mannequin. Well, since I'm lost, might as well have fun with it.
"Hello," I said to the mannequin. "Do you know where the elevators are?"
Since the mannequin was already pointing to the north of us, I followed her direction. Then I was faced with another mannequin.
"Hello," I greeted this one. "Love the outfit. Mind telling me where the elevators are though?"
Her face was tilted towards the east of us, so I now I walk eastward! And here is my third mannequin!
"Hey there cutie," I said to the man mannequin. "Mind helping a girl like me look for the elevators?"
He was looking towards the east, so I walked eastward once more. And there was the same mannequin I saw the first time... staring at me with blank eyes. Then I get frustrated, of course. I never was patient.
"You led me in a circle! You and your evil friends set this up, didn't they?" I asked 'her'. She stared at me blankly. "Gr, talk to me! Don't just ignore me!"
"Ahem," I heard someone say behind me.
"Don't clear your throat at me!" I yelled.
Then someone tapped my shoulder.
"Oh my gosh... you've come to life!" I said in astonishment. "I am so sorry for yelling at you! Don't eat me!"
Then it laughed.
"Hey, don't laugh at me," I pouted. "At least I'm not a living mannequin."
"Neither am I," the voice said. I spun around, and there stood a teenage guy standing in front of me. His brown hair was messy, and his crystal blue eyes were sparkling with amusement.
"Heh," I laughed nervously. "No wonder she sounded like a guy?"
He chuckled. "Yes, because a mannequin coming to life is so likely?"
I scowled. "Hey, it could happen!"
"Sure, maybe in a Disney movie, but not at the world's largest Macy's," he said, smirking. Then I realized from his red vest that he worked here. I squinted and read his silver name tag. Drake.
"Yeah, well Drake, I happen to love Disney movies," I said, sticking my tongue out at him. This just made him laugh.
"Yeah, I should have known," he smirked. "So why were you yelling at the mannequin anyway?"
"It lied to me," I told him. "I asked him for the directions to the elevator, and it told me to go north, then the other three told me east, then I was here again!"
Then he burst out laughing. "You really are crazy. Anyway, the elevators are straight down that hall, towards the right." Then he left, chuckling to himself.
I swear, I'm going to report him to the Macy's headquarters for laughing at me. I'll be the one laughing when he gets fired. ... Wait, where is the Macy's headquarter?
Me and my friends were at the park, laying under the tree. I stared up at the clear sky, watching the birds fly past us. "Oh look at that cloud! It looks like a piggy!" I yelled in excitement at my friends.
They stared at me, then laid their heads back down.
"Delaney, there are no clouds today. What are you talking about?" Kelsey asked.
I frowned. "Can't you guys just play along? No fun, I swear."
"If we give you something to do, will you shut up?" Mike asked.
I nodded at him like a little kid, and stared at him with big eyes, ready for the challenge. "Uh, go yell at the sky while hitting the fence like a maniac."
I jumped up, and skipped towards the fence. Then, I started screaming. I wasn't screaming actual words, just any nonsense that came to mind. "Wamagama... twinkie... yahayya... turtles... blahblahblah!" I held onto the fence, shaking it.
Then, someone came up to the fence, his hood covering his face. I wonder if I had scared him... oh well, I scare everyone. I kept screaming my nonsense, then I heard him mutter, "Wow, first talking to mannequins, then screaming towards the sky crazily? Does someone need to take their medication?"
I stopped right away, and glared at him. I knew that smirk was all too familiar. His brown hair was hidden by the hood, but his eyes sparkled with the same amusement as last time. He had on jeans this time though, and a black hoodie. I don't know why though, because it was 80 degrees out. "Are you planning to mug someone?"
"What?" he asked, his smirk gone but the amusement still there.
"Well, you're wearing a hoodie outside when it's about 80 degrees out. Either your planning to mug someone, or you have some temperature issuses."
The smirk returned as soon as I opened my mouth. "Wow, vivid imagination there, kid."
"Kid?" I asked, shocked that he'd dare call me a kid. "I'm your age!... I think."
"I'm 18," he said, smirking, just waiting to challenge me.
"17," I answered, sticking my tongue out at him. "Senior year, baby."
"Me too," he said, smirking even bigger. Then I didn't feel like talking, so I skipped away. "Hey, don't walk away when we're talking!"
But I ignored him. He wasn't worth the time anyway. But I couldn't help but smile as I left, thinking about his crystal blue eyes. I think they might have a tint of green in them...
Valentine's Day. Oh how I loathe Valentine's Day. Something about how everyone is so lovesick and happy-dappy makes me want to puke on their sick faces. I was so close to staying home this year, but no, I've got to learn, and all that crap.
Sooner or later, I got bored. So I forced my friends to give me a dare, the hardest one they could think of. And they did... sort of. They dared me to sneak into the boy's locker room, steal a used towel, then sneak back out. It could have been worse though... and I wish it was.
So here I am right now, ready to run into the locker room. I count in my mind mentally... 1... 2... 3! Then I ran in, making sure no one was in there.
I look around, and there were tons of dirty towels laying around! Gross! It's like they don't know how to take care of themselves and clean up! I grab one with the tips of my finger, and plug my nose. Ugh, it smells like sweat and... oh, I don't want to know what else.
I quietly started tip-toeing out of there, but tripped on... a pair of boxers!? Ew, ew, ew! I stumbled up, only to fall back down into someone's arms. "Urgh! Let... go... of me!" I struggled.
"Ah, I knew I recongnized that nagging voice, and cherry wood hair," a familiar voice said. And that obnixious voice could only belong to one person... Drake.
"Ugh, are you stalking me?" I demanded, standing up, smacking his hands off of me.
He stared at me as if he was shocked. "Oh please, stalking you is the last thing I'd want to do."
I laughed. "Yeah right, you're drawn to me like a magnet."
He smirked. "Yeah... you're right," he said, stepping closer.
My laugh faded, and I step a foot back. "Right... so, I'm going to go now."
"No," he said, stopping me. "I want to know what you're doing here."
"None of your business."
"So I guess I'm going to tell everyone how I met you in the boy's locker room, after falling over a pair of boxers?" he smirked.
I growled. "Fine, if you must know... it was a dare."
He smirked again. "Knew it."
"Now can I go?" I asked impatiently.
"No," he said. "Was the mannequin and fence thing also a dare?"
"The mannequin? No. I was just lost and hopeless. The fence? Kinda. I was just bored."
He nodded slowly, the his eye caught the towel. He pointed to it, raising an eyebrow, and I knew what he was asking.
"Part of the dare," I explained. He nodded.
"Well... nice seeing you here, Delaney," he said, smirking. He started walking off, but I couldn't let him the have the last words.
"I hope you get expelled! Or transfered!" I yelled after him.
He didn't turn around, but I could see the side of his lips turn upwards in a smirk. "Now, why would I do that to my lab partner?"
"Right..." I said, not completely understanding what he meant. Then he left, and I realized what he meant. "Wait... lab partner?! I'm your lab partner! No! You're... you're joking, right? Right?"
He didn't answer, he just kept walking, smirking. Ugh, how I hate that smirk.
A/N: Simple oneshot I started last night and finished this afternoon after school. Hope you enjoyed! Romance, humor, sarcasm... my three favorite things :) There might be a sequal oneshot too, or prequal perhaps, later. And today is my last day of school! Gonna miss my friends! ... but not the work. Have a happy Summer guys!
Oh, and the mannequin thing and fence thing really did happen to me :) It's fun xD
p.s. I'm not sure about updates this summer, because for about half of it I'm going to be out on vacation, and for six days I have no internet connectiong (I think) because I'm going on a cruise. So... hope this lasts! But updates this weekend, probably!
