Prologue

1. What the hell is this?

My story is a satire of multiplayer online role playing games (or MMORPGS for short). The main character is self aware in order to highlight some of the absurdities of game based reality while at the same time drawing an occasional parallel to real-life using these absurdities as a metaphor. For example, you could easily compare the daily 9-5 routine of your average mundane job to the repetitive level grinding of a MMORPG (of course the only difference being one generates a paycheck at the end of the week and the other requires a payment each month).

2. Why doesn't your story drag on for hours on end describing each character and setting?

Although this is typically considered effective writing I consider it to be boring especially in a work that is meant for the purposes of comedy. My goal is to create a story frenetic enough to accommodate for even the most impatient reader regardless of the number of literature snobs it will inevitably turn away.

3. What's with the constant references to "leet speak" in your story?

Obviously, people not familiar with "leet speak" are going to have trouble getting some of the dialogue in the story, but this sacrifice is necessary in order to accurately parody some of the gameplay and cultural elements in a MMORPG.

4. How many chapters will you end up writing?

I don't know, but I estimate about 30 chapters should be enough to cover all the amusing elements of the MMORPG genre and give the protagonist an adequate chance of obtaining the Infernal Sword of Soulrape thus putting the story at a logical endpoint.

5. How often will you release chapters until it is finished?

At the rate things are going about once a month.

6. Do you have plans for any other works?

Yes, in the genre of psychological horror after this one is finished. Of course, the style and pace will be much more different.

7. Can you proofread more?

I will thoroughly proofread and edit the story once it is completed. As of now it is in the rough draft stage of development so it is too early to nitpick at errors. Once the finalized copy is put together I will decide whether or not I want to publish the thing.

Most likely I will just find a cheap way to print it out and send copies to people for free because even if I do become famous most likely people won't begin to appreciate my work until long after I'm dead and long after I get the opportunity to cash in on any of the fame I have acquired. But who the hell knows...
