Hello everyone! This is one of my first attempts to create a world all my own, so I hope it doesn't suck too hard!!!
I own everything I will write here, and I hope no one steals it! (Yeah right...)
As you may or may not know, I have revamped and fixified this story since my first posting, so if you got my little note at the last chapter, please read on! Note how much better it is this time around! Yay!!!!
READ it, REVIEW it, but most of all ENJOY IT!!!
PREFACE
For Our Lives
Brogyn
Haugh. Haugh. Haugh. Haugh.
My breath came in short gasps as we ran, our feet pounding the glimmering streets. I shot around a corner, my hand grabbing onto Shaun’s sweatshirt hood to help him run faster as he fell behind, panting hard. I could hear Tory pounding along beside me, her eyes wild, and Collin shot around a corner in front of us with inhuman speed.
There were too few...where were the others? The sound of running feet and labored breathing echoed through the walls of the Sapphire city, making it seem as if we were a marching army rather than a group of children running for our lives.
Only children, only children...we couldn't use such and excuse here.
Suddenly my foot caught in a crack, and I landed hard on my hands. I heard a snap and my wrist screamed in pain, making me collapse with a little gasp of pain and shock. How could I have been so careless? I was going to get them all killed. I rolled over, holding my throbbing wrist against my chest as my eyes closed to block out the pain. More than the pain in my arm was the pain in my heart.
It was all over now.
I gazed up into the sky as the sound of running feet came closer. The stars looked so close and bright; it seemed that if you jumped and reached out you could grab one right out of the sky. They seemed to be mocking us with their eternal eyes as we ran for our lives, laughing amongst themselves at how temporary humans are.
I almost laughed to myself--she was right about us after all.
Suddenly a shadow fell across my vision, and I closed my eyes, waiting for it to end. Offhand, I wondered if I was close enough to heaven to be sent right there without facing Saint Peter at the gates…
I promise not all my chapters will be so short, only this one and a few others...I feel bad making them so short....
Anyway, I hope you read on and review what you read!!!!

P.S I had this story posted before, but I went back and edited a whole lot, so if you've read up to chapter nine, read again, because I think I improved it thanks to constructive crtitisism from reviewers like you!!!!
Thank you all!!!
