Poisoned Petunias

Plants hiding among pools of flowers

Merging into a façade

Pretending they’re something else

Curling in on one another

Hoping clustering together will disguise

But aren’t we just the same?

Pretending we’re something more?

Pretending we’re someone we never will be

Hiding among others

In hope that no one will look close enough to spot

That we just don’t belong

There's poison ivy amidst the petunias

Slowly killing the beauty all around
