Chapter 3
As they entered the kitchen Jazlyn smiled. Looking around she liked what she saw. There was a large round table by the far wall that looked out into the back yard. There was a refrigerator decorated with pictures drawn by Celi and Jacob. It had tile floor and granite counter tops. The kitchen was open and had lots of windows that sunlight was streaming through.
“Come sit down dear, you must be hungry. There is toast and eggs on the table if you would like some. There is cereal in the pantry and fruit in the bottom drawer of the refrigerator if you would like any.” Megan said as she was cutting up strawberries. Itzel went to the refrigerator and got a banana
“Do you want a banana Jazlyn?”
“Yes, Thank You.”
When Itzel handed Jazlyn her banana to her their hands touched. There wasn’t any magical spark that passed through their hands, but that little contact made them both smile.
When they sat down at the table Jacob introduced himself as “Hi I’m Jacob Carter Hathaway. I am 8 and a half years old and I could whoop your but.”
“Well Jacob Carter Hathaway I am Jazlyn Amy Zabelin. I am 17 years old and remind me never to cross your path when you’re angry.” At that Jacob smirked and went back to shoveling eggs into his mouth. Celi on the other hand was sitting silently next to his twin keeping his own eyes on his plate, only looking up to sneak glances at Jazlyn trying to decide if she was able to be trusted.
After everyone was done eating Megan told the boys to go get dressed and brush their teeth. Jazlyn started to clean the table off, but Megan told the girls they didn’t need to help, but Jazlyn said that she didn’t mind because she always had to clean up at her house. “Sense my mom left me with my father when I was still a baby and my dad hates to clean but is a slob, I get left with all the messy work. I honestly don’t mind helping, If you don’t mind me doing so.” She said looking up
“Oh no of course not! How about you dry the dishes then while I wash them and Itzel can put them away.” Megan said with a smile “You know this is kind of nice, having two girls in a quiet kitchen”
“Ha well it wont be quiet for long. Its only a matter of time until the boys come back in here. Honestly I don’t know how they can always be hungry.” Itzel said laughing to herself.
Soon enough, Jacob came back into the kitchen asking “Mom, im hungry. Can I have a popsicle?”
Itzel rolled her eyes at Jazlyn and said “See? A bottomless pit he’s got in there” pointing to Jacob. “Crazy.”
Once the kitchen was all clean and Jacob was sent off with out his popsicle ‘You can have one after lunch’ Jazlyn and Itzel went back to the bedroom which she found out was Itzels bedroom. The walls were a light blue, like the sky. There was a rocking chair, a desk, a dresser with lots of stuff on it, a pile of clothes on the floor. Pretty much your average teanagers room looks like minus the rocking chair. “Itzel, why do you have a rocking chair in your room?”
“Well for a few reasons. One I like to rock, it’s a good comfort. Two there wasn’t any where else to put it and I did not want to get rid of it. Three Celi still comes in here if he cant sleep and even though he is 8 now I will rock him back to sleep, then put him back to bed. Celi is really sweet once you get to know him. He is just really shy around strangers. He is the cuddly one. If you tried to so much as give Jacob a hug he will run away screaming that he now has to burn his clothes because you gave him girl cooties. Jacob is really dramatic if you couldn’t tell.”
“Yes I gathered that” Jazlyn said with a smile. “So is it just you, Jacob and Celi and your mom who live here?”
“Yeah, just us. My dad doesn’t really talk to us anymore. Sometimes there is a birthday card for the twins, but other than that we don’t really hear from him. I never knew him, so it doesn’t really bother me much, but it bothers me that the boys, especially Jacob, don’t have a dad.”
“Oh im sorry. Yeah my mom left me when I was still a baby and I never knew her. Your mom is nice. She is friendly. She seems like the kind of person anyone would like, you know?”
“Yeah, she likes to talk a lot. What’s your dad like?”
“Well, um he’s not really the nicest person, but I stay out of his way and he keeps out of mine. There is some shouting every now and then, but usually I don’t see much of him. He works in the day, and goes out at night and usually when I go off to school he’s out cold in his bed or on the couch. But we don’t need to talk about this anymore do we?” Jazlyn said turning away from Itzel.
“No we most certainly do not” Itzel said walking up behind Jazlyn standing only inches away “lets talk about something good so I can see your pretty smile.”
Itzel was standing so close to Jazlyn with out their bodies touching she could feel her breath on her neck as she spoke. It gave her chills that had nothing to do with the temperature of the room. Jazlyn wanted her to touch her. She wanted to feel her strong arms around her waist again. She wanted to feel Itzel’s body pressed up against her back again. Just thinking about the feel of her body against Itzel’s started a warm tingling between her thighs.
