the big bang theory

she’s lookin’ for the boy with the biggest
rocket to fill her outer space, to send
her to the moon -- all fire and zero
gravity; she becomes weightless
and screams as the constellations
pass her by, winkin’ at her through
the small glass window.

it’s a lifelong dream, to be this kind
of a galaxy explorer, to see stars
every time he explodes
from the launchin’ pad.

she slips into her space suit,
climbs on his rocket ship,
the one she’s always desired,
and says,

“i’m ready for liftoff.”
