"Daddy Left"
She doesn’t know why
Daddy left,
Only that
It makes her sad.
She remembers playing
In the back yard
With her sisters.
Then Mommy came to them,
Crying.

She doesn’t remember what
Mommy said,
But it meant
Daddy was leaving them.
Over the gate,
She saw Daddy
Climb into a friend’s car
And drive away.
He never said “Goodbye.”
