i know i'm going to heal
(someday)
i know i'll find someone new
(someday)
i know i'll realize it's for the best
(someday)
i know i'll forget what she felt like
(someday)

but right now, i just remember her tiny hands
and the way they felt in mine
the stories i wrote with her in mind
and the way romance novels made me think of her.
right now, i just remember my very first kiss
and how i thought "sparks" were silly until then
our inside jokes, awkwardness, comfort
the way i smiled the first day we were together
the whole
damned
day.

and i can let it go.
remember the good times.
remember the friendship and smiles.
remember that which was love.
but let it go.
let her go.
because that's what she deserves
and that's what i deserve
and
i know i'm going to be okay.

(someday)
