Piano.

I hear the other children screaming down the hall, I listen to the caretaker mumble a few disturbing words and then yell at them to shut-up and behave, and finish off her reign of terror by mentioning her famous line, “No wonder none of your parents wanted you.” My name is Mary Wooden and I am an orphan. I lose hope day after day but the one dream I have held on to through all of my troubles is my desire to be a princess so that I would be assured daily that I was loved. I could spend my days talking to princes admiring my dresses a playing the grand piano that would take up half of my room. I would be free and happy as opposed to living like this. In a world of hate and sorrow where I was abandoned by the two people in the world who are supposed to love you no matter what. Where I sit every day on my bed looking out the rain soaked window wishing I could eat something other than porridge and do something other than sit and work, scrubbing the floors. One orphan girl once told me the story of Cinderella. She has since been adopted but her kind sweet memory of her and her stories stays with me. I hope to one day become a princess and be taken away from this misery just like Cinderella. To one day be free. To one day own a beautiful grand piano that I could play songs on that would remind me of just how miserable I was and how beautiful my life has become. A grand piano that would take up half of my room.
