Why am I doing this? Oh yeah cause I'm stupid. I pulled up to party central headquarters. They're were cars everywhere and blaring music. I let myself in and saw people making out, screaming and whistling as I came in the room. I had to choose my shortest short shorts to wear to bed tonight didn't I? And my fuzzy pink top, I really shouldn't dress like I'm about to do a Victoria's Secret shoot. But, I didn't buy these, my mom's the one with the obsession of lace and sex appeal. I don't understand I don't even have a boy friend for Christ sake. But no, my mother insisted that I should act rich if I am rich. Which honestly was so stupid. I looked everywhere for Luke. I didn't understand why he wouldn't listen to me when I told him not to go to this party. But what does he do? He goes to the damn party.
I didn't find him at first, so I went upstairs. I checked the first room and found his girlfriend making out with some frat dude. She was in her bra and still wearing pants, thank god. Why does he even like her? Shes such a sleaze and does he know shes not even a virgin? Probably not. I checked every door, and still didn't find him. I headed back downstairs and then I saw two guys wearing cones on their heads laughing at some dude past out on the coffee table. And that some dude happened to be Luke. Great. I thought. I leaned next to him and looked at him. His eyes were closed and he was defiantly unconscious. I tried to pick him up but he was just so darn heavy. I dragged him by his arms trying to not break him up to bad.
“What the hell do you think your doing?” I heard Cali scream from the top of the stairs. I didn't respond I just kept walking. She grabbed his foot and started tugging.
“Stop,” I mumbled. And continued walking. I got outside and she disappeared when suddenly I felt a hand smack down on my shoulder knocking me to the ground. I looked up as she dragged Luke back in. I scrambled to get up and ran in after her she had Luke on the couch he was conscious now and they were making out. It disgusted me until he vomited all over her, and then his body slumped to the floor. I held back my hysterics but let out a small giggle.
“You think this is funny?” Cali yelled in my face, “You think this is FUNNY?” She was spitting and she reeked of vomit. She lifted up her hand to hit me, when the college dude she was making out with came and took her back upstairs. He looked back at me and I mouthed a thank you, he nodded and continued walking. I went over to Luke and looked at him. He wasn't the one covered in vomit, bu I couldn't say the same for the couch. I dragged him again this time reaching my car Cali free. I slid him in the back seat of my sedan as careful as possible. I buckled him in and shut the door. I opened my door and tried to remember the way to his house. The whole time I was praying he wouldn't vomit in my car.
When we finally reached his house, I was relieved to find my car puke free. I opened his door and he was awake. He was staring at the ceiling, I grabbed his feet and pulled him out. He looked at me and smiled. Then it looked like he was gonna vomit. I turned him away from my body and he fell and the ground and heaved. I looked at him in disgust. He wiped his mouth and looked up to me. He was so helpless, how could I be mad? I offered my hand and he took it. I yanked him up and put his my arm around my shoulder and took him inside. I set him on his couch and went to kind find some clean clothes for him. But when I came back he was asleep. I smiled and sat on the chair next to him. I accidentally fell phone rang and woke me up.
“Hello?” I said groggily.
“Hey, omg where are you?” My friend Ellie yelled at me.
“I'm at Luke's house, god I told you, hey could you bring me some clothes?” I asked.
“Sure sure. But when do you parents and brother get back from Vegas?” She asked.
“Um, I think in about a week,” I said, trying to remember what day it was, oh Sunday.
“When does his parents get back?” She asked popping her gum in the background.
“Same time as mine, when am I getting my clothes?” I asked.
“I'm going, I'm going,” She said and hung up. Polite. I should probably go make some breakfast or something. I got up and headed into the kitchen. I looked for ginger ale and saltines for Mr. Hangover. I poured him a glass and got out a plate and laid out the crackers. I wanted to make a different breakfast in case he didn't want that. I found all the things to make pancakes. I was finished with the batter when the doorbell rang.
“Hey here your clothes, WHOA he is hungover!” Ellie said as she pushed me out of the way. She dropped my clothes in the hallway, I picked them up and followed her. She poked him, and I slapped her hand out of the way.
“Don't do that, time for you to go! Out out out!” I said shooing her out the door.
“Your welcome,” she screamed from her car. I waved and went back inside. I tried to a find a bathroom to change. I walked into a room, nope office. I tried the next one, and I found it. I changed and then headed back to the kitchen, and turned on the stove and found a pan. I put the first one in and started to get fancy and flipped. I let it cook and found a plate. I heard a rustling on the couch and then the zombie rose. He was holding his head, and was looking at me in the most puzzling way.
“Good morning! Pancakes?” I said flipping the pancake on a plate. He scratched his head and got up. He sat in the stool and looked at me, I sat a plate in front of him and then made more. He didn't speak. He stared at his food and then ran to the bathroom. I waited for him, took his plate back and put it next to the pan, I knew he wouldn't want to eat. Instead I sat the cracker plate where his spot was and the ginger ale and I just stared at the bathroom door. I wasn't thinking about anything, I was just staring. I heard a flush and then the door squeak open. He looked at me, and then went up the stairs, huh, thats rude. I thought. I waited for him to come back down. Ten minutes went by, the 20, then 30 then and hour. An hour had past, and I was still leaning against the counter waiting for him to come back. I grabbed my keys and decided I wasn't invited. The minute I reached the door I heard, “Don't go.”
I turned around and saw him at the top of the stairs, in new clothes, his hair gelled, and he looked showered, at least he smelled showered. The way he looked at me, I didn't even try to defend why I should leave. Instead I shoved my keys into my pocket and walked back to the kitchen. I didn't say anything, I knew I didn't have to. I reached the living room, and just sat on the couch, looking blankly at the TV. It wasn't on, but I could see the whole room behind me. I saw him walk into the kitchen. He grabbed the plate of crackers and soda and came and sat right next to me.
“Hi,” he said.
“Uh, hm hi?” I asked.
“What happened last night?” he asked.
“Um, my friend called me and told me you were in trouble, so I came and got you and took you back to your home, but then I accidentally fell asleep, I can uh, leave if you don't want me here,” I said and started to get up. He pulled my hand.
“I told you, don't go,” he said, “and uh, thank you.”
“No problem, anytime,” I said. I wasn't sure what was going to happen next, but honestly didn't care, I actually felt peaceful, happy and at ease. This made me want to never have to move on in time, but time ticked anyway, and I was reminded of my duties, it was Sunday, and I was pretty sure I had homework.
“You know, I really should like, go, I have homework and all,” I said getting up motioning towards the door.
“Thats a real lame excuse,” he said.
“ I know, but I do, and uh, I'll see you tomorrow, okay?” I said, heading towards the door, “I'll take you to school too, so uh, ya, I'll see you in the morning.”
“Okay, but promise you'll be there tomorrow. Okay?” He said.
“I promise,” I said. And I headed out the door. I had to head to Ellie's house because my parents and brother were on vacation, without me. I drove down the highway thinking of all the events that had just happened. I reached her street and then finally her familiar house. My second house really, it was funny how often I was at her house. I knocked, even though I've been told repeatedly to just allow yourself in, but I thought that would be rude. I heard Ellie holler, “Come in!”
“You know you can just let yourself in, save all that trouble for someone who actually cares,” She said licking the brownie spoon. I loved the way she dressed. She was wearing a pair of dark wash short shorts, and a green tube top, and purple flip-flops. Her long blond hair was put up in a lazy pony, and her make up was fabulous, as always.
“Yes, but my mother did not raise me that way,” I pointed out climbing the stairs.
“Ugh whatever!” She said and headed back into the kitchen. I laughed and threw my purse on the couch and headed into the kitchen.
“Brownies?” I asked, already seeing the spoon.
“No, you think?” She said sarcastically and flicked me with water, “Anyway, spill spill spill, your parents are gonna be pissed if they find out you spent the night, at a BOY'S house!”
“There's nothing to spill, I spent the night only to make sure he didn't break anything or himself,” I defended.
“You love him,” Ellie said.
“Why would you say that, we're just good friends, we've been friends for like, EVER!” I said knocking on her forehead.
“I say he loves you too,” She said turning back to her brownies putting them into the oven.
“Um, how does that work? He has a girlfriend,” I pointed out cleverly.
“You can say whatever you want, he loves you, like a lot,” She said.
“Why would you think that?” I asked in disbelief. Him and Cali were good together, maybe, I wasn't sure, she was cheating on him with a college kid, so maybe....
“Uh have you seen the way he looks at you?” She asked wiping her hands clean.
“Um, honestly no, I don't pay attention to creepy things like that,” I said.
“Ugh your such a pessimist. He's in love with you and you just can't see it,” She said and walked out of the kitchen. I followed her. As her words sunk in, I really thought about my feelings for Luke. Maybe I did love him. But I'm pretty sure I'm too afraid to admit it. I sat on the couch next to her.
“So, what did happen?” She asked sliding closer to me.
“Nothing, I've told you,” I said.
“Well, that's no fun,” She said.
“I'm going to go do some homework,” I said, and headed downstairs to her room. I grabbed my math book and attacked the problems. I flipped on my Ipod and listened to the some classic Beatles. I kept thinking about Luke, maybe I did love him. Maybe he loved me back. Maybe we would go out. Maybe I'm an idiot for believing the hottest and most popular guy's in love with me. Ugh got to get him out of my head. Math Math Math!!! Finally I concentrated hard enough on math and got it done. I finished all my homework virtually Luke free. Except when I got to Romeo and Juliet I had a couple thoughts, but I moved on quickly. I went upstairs when I was done and saw Ellie and her mom.
“Hey Ellie's mom!” I said, and waved my hand. She laughed at her name.
“Hi, Rachel's daughter,” She said. I laughed.
“So, what's for dinner?” I asked.
“Chicken and rice,” Ellie said.
“Mmm yum,” I said. Honestly that sounded horrible but, I didn't have to taste it, I would just swallow and deal with it. Dinner was set in front of me and I just inhaled without thinking. I washed it down faster with water. “Can I be excused?” I asked when I finished.
“Of course,” Ellie's mom said. I walked downstairs and realized how tired I was. I slipped into some jammies and laid on Ellie's bed. Before I knew it, it was dark and Ellie was sleeping next to me. I groaned and fluffed my hair. I fell back on my pillow and became unconscious. I woke up with my hair sticking to my face and a blaring alarm clock. I got up and went to the bathroom. I stared at myself in the mirror. My thick died brunette hair was matted across my whole face. I brushed my fricking long hair and wonder why I refused to cut it. I brushed my hair, my teeth, globbed on some mascara and got dressed. I put on a dark pair of jeans, and with button down shirt with sleeves and a dark gray vest. I slipped on some purple ballet shoes when Ellie finally woke up.
