Chapter One:He’s Back

It’s been a while since I’ve felt this kind of feeling…

“Guys, I have good news!” My friend Laura came inside the classroom shouting.

“What is it this time Laura? You’re prince charming finally awakened?”

“Shut up Suzanne! I really hate that envy attitude of yours! Find yourself a boyfriend will you!”

These two really get on my nerves. They’re always like this each morning we come to class. I can’t really say I’m lucky I have friends like them.

“Laura—Laura, can you keep it low. We’re not talking about Suzanne aren’t we?”

“Oh yeah, I almost forgot the good news. Thanks for reminding me Aidan.”

“Anytime”

There you go. That’s my name. Aidan Mercedez, a 3rd year in college and bound to have a rather difficult life starting today.

“So what’s the good news Laura?”

“Hey Sian!”

“Don’t “Hey Sian!” me Princess Aidan, you’ve got some explaining to do.”

Oh man! I thought he already forgot. Anyway, this guy is my best friend. His name is Sian Cortes. He’s been my best friend since high school. How’d it happen you may ask? Well, back then, I was almost raped by these group of students, then he rescued me, and the rest is history—oh, and an unforgettable one.

After he helped me, I became persistent to befriend him, but he was so hard to approach back then, not to mention being cocky. But, because of my patience, I won him and look at us now, we’re the best pals.

I know you’re curious why he’s angry at me today. It’s because I broke one of his rules. I came to the bar where he does his part-time job as a bartender—yesterday.

“I’ll explain after class, k?” I gave him a puppy look eyes.

“Don’t hit me with those eyes.” He angrily turned around.

It’s Sian’s weakness. He doesn’t like seeing me cry. That’s the sweet side of him.

“People, listen to this!”

“When did Laura get there? I didn’t saw her came up the platform.”

“Well, maybe because, you two are busy having a fight, you didn’t seem to notice.”

Laura’s a type of person who is free. She doesn’t let anything bother her and she’s very determined likewise with Suzanne. I’m the total opposite of them.

“I wonder what the good news is” I curiously mumbled.

“After a week of wait, we finally have our Japanese 3 professor and he’s coming today.”

I don’t know why my heart begun to pound so crazily fast after that news. Suddenly, a minute there, I thought of something impossible. Then, Sian uttered some words that break my thought.

“Stop it. It’s impossible.”

I know. I know and I’m aware of that. That’s what I also thought—just right before he came in.

“Ok Laura, you can sit now. I believe you’re done with your good news.”

“Hai Maki-Sensei.”

Laura hurriedly sat back on her table. And me, I can’t still believe my eyes.

“Ohayou. How’s my favorite class? Did you guys miss me?”

The whole class responded with noises, probably showing they’re welcoming him back. Souichiro Maki.

“I’m so glad I’m back.”

I wasn’t sure if it’s just me or my eyes are playing tricks again. It’ like, he’s saying those words to me, not to mention, our eyes met.

“I guess I was wrong back there.”

Our classes are over. And just like a daily routine, Sian walks me home.

“Huh?” I unconsciously replied.

“It’s nothing, I mean, how do you feel about him getting back?”

“Oh that. It’s been a while. Well, I’m just surprised he’s back.”

“And?”

Sian knows everything about me. Fact, he’s the only one who knows my secrets, big or small. I can’t really hide anything from him. If there’s one person I can’t lie with, it’s him. Maybe it’s a habit already.

“It’s also been a while since I’ve felt this kind of feeling again. I thought—”

“You thought you got rid of it huh? Oh well, since you still feel it, all you need to do is go back.”

“Go back huh.”
