His big, broad arms hold me tight,
And he whispers sweet nothings in my ear.
And the night passes,
And daybreak starts.
We watch the sunrise,
And I quietly ask:
'What is the meaning of forever?"
"Forever,"
He began, in a slow, thought out way,
"Forever is when the sun stops rising,
When the mountains shake.
And the Earth quakes.
Forever is when the world ends.
And I'll love you until forever."
"But then," I respond,
"What if it happens?
What if aliens attack,
Like talking apes,
Big green bugs,
Or monkey-tailed fighters?
And what happens
When the world stops turning?
And death is near.
Will you still be there?"
"Those are questions,"
He replies, automatically,
"That need not be answered,
For the answer is known.
Deep inside our hearts."
And that was it.
Forever.
It is the meaning of our love.
And forever is everlasting.
