My Past Loves Side-by-Side

Looking at their pictures-

The ones that truly captured

Their characters.

I forgot one though-

But I never gave him a real chance, anyway.

As I look upon the three

That once meant the world to me,

I remember everything

That happened between us.

Picture number one:

I claimed I loved him

Even after he had put me through a lot.

Somehow I don’t remember much

Of what I felt between us.

What I do remember the most

Is the pain he caused me.

Picture number two:

It is you that I have probably loved the most

And I still am recovering

From the ache you caused in my heart.

You, my friend, were silly

You made me feel free to be just me

And with you, everything felt so “right”

But then,

We had that one fight…

Picture I forgot:

You, I have cared for the longest

And the one I know the best.

You have always been such a great friend.

I remember when we were

“Caught in the moment”

And, boy, it really was hot.

But the truth is,

We are both cowards

And won’t take the step

We both secretly want.

Picture number three:

I hope you know

You’ll always mean a lot to me.

I grew up the most around you.

I will never doubt how much

I truly loved you.

The one thing that stuck out the most with you

Is that I felt loved back.

That’s the reason why I hoped you were the one.

But, when I was told of your past

All of that hope was lost,

Then I realized you were not ever

Meant to be the one.

Today, I have courage to look at these boys

Side-by-side.

And I realize that my love life has been good.

I have successfully been in love with each of them.

And learned quite a bit

From all of them

And the situations we were put in.

I just pray that after all the joy and pain

I will have some of my heart left

To give to the right man!

So, I wrote this last night! I was bored and was thinking of the boys I've given my heart to before. It was cool... I realized just HOW MUCH I remember! lol. (7/09)
