To Feel Alive

I stood upon the open stage, the music blaring around me. Have you ever done something so many times but one day its just so much different? I’m not sure how to explain it really. It’s just an amazing feeling.

Ever since I was a child I came here to sing. I never needed an audience and I rarely ever had one. I just used the old park stage and my band. We played music for fun, it was a passion. We never did this to entertain or for money and we still didn’t. It was different today though.

I felt so alive, the music rushing through my veins. My heart raced with the music. I sang better, louder then I ever had before. I felt wonderful. I had never experienced such an amazing feeling. The music, the rush, the cheers, the vibrations, everything was wonderful. It was like nothing I had ever felt. I loved every second of it.

I had never seen such a crowd for us, for our little band. I always thought of this kind of thing as something that only happened to lucky characters in a cliché movie. It was for real though. I would have laughed as I thought of a producer happening upon us and signing us a record deal. Now that would have been a miracle not real life though.

It’s okay either way. I don’t need a record deal. I’m happy right now, just as I am. I’m happier now then I have ever been before, dancing here along the stage singing my heart out. Maybe it’s the music, maybe it’s the cheers, or maybe it’s just a mood, for all I know it could just be me but I don’t care. All I want is for this day, this song to never end.

I know it will though, and when it does I know I’ll never forget. This amazing, wonderful, crazy feeling inside me that makes me sing like I never have before. I know I won’t forget. It would be impossible too. This feeling is too great to forget, even for an instant.

This feeling, I realize, gives me hope that I can make it through the hard ships going on in my life right now. Like my bad grades in school, my family fighting, everything that’s going wrong. This feeling makes me believe that everything will be okay. It makes me feel like I can do anything, be anything. This is just the boost I needed.

So whoever gave me this day, gave me this feeling, weather it be a god or just my own will, or something else, I owe you so much. I thank you for this, everything I am, everything I have. I’m happy today and I know now that I’ll be okay. All the fog and craziness inside my head that had me so confused, so lost, it’s gone. My mind and my heart are cleared of all confusion. I know what road is the best one to take now. I know everything right now is worth working hard for. I can make it through this time and move on to something better, something great. I will be rewarded for my faith in tomorrow.

Thank you.

My hair’s brushed into my face. My voice is growing louder. The song is in its last verse. I can hear the cheers. I can see the faces, the drums in the background, vibrating the floor under my feet, the sound of the guitars besides me. Today, is the best day of my life so far and I look forward to seeing more days just as perfect as this one really, really soon. I’m not worried anymore about anything. I’ll work hard and try my best and know that everything will turn out fine.

I sing the last words and the song ends. The music slowly calms and the crowd cheers. I’m breathing heavily, I’ve never been so tired, but I feel great. Everyone looks so happy, I’m so glad.

As I look around at everyone, from the crowded audience to my band members, I’m smiling, all of their smiling, happy faces. It’s not just a smile though, its pure, true happiness. That’s something I haven’t seen or felt in a long time.

I just want to thank you. Whoever, whatever you are, you made this happen or you helped me, helped us make this happen. I’m not sure which really, but you helped and made this day great.

All I can say is thank you, for the best day of my life.
