Silence reigned between the two men. It was a comfortable silence, as they sat close together on the private veranda surrounding a private inner garden of the Mamurasaki Castle. The ruling lord, Yuu, gazed out across the garden with gentle eyes and a soft smile on his kind features. The elder man next to him, a warrior demon with a shock of blonde hair, sat with an emotionless expression, merely making shapes in the sky with his imagination.
The blonde demon then moved, lifting a hand calloused from years of sword-fighting and holding it above the polished wood floor they sat upon. Tapping into the powers of the ice-woman Yuki-onna who possessed him and his own powers as a born water demon, a small statue made of ice began to grow from the floor.
Yuu caught notice of this and focused his somewhat blurred vision on his warrior's actions. It was hard to really tell for him, but what he could see seemed to be what looked like a phoenix frozen in midflight.
"That's beautiful, Yuki-san!" Yuu's quiet voice broke the silence as gently as it was a part of it.
Yuki's expression never changed, "I can do more than kill, my lord."
Yuu smiled, even though Yuki wasn't looking, "I know, but I've never seen you do this before."
Two-tone eyes met crystal-blue ones, as Yuki's were two different colors, an icy-arctic blue one, and a white one, results of his mixed demonic heritage. Yuki hardly showed emotion to anyone, because he felt that attachment of any kind was both painful and a nuisance. But in times like this, these quiet moments alone with his lord, a smile would grace his handsome features in the presence of Yuu. This was one of those moments.
Yuu often reminded Yuki of an innocent child, but knew that behind the gentle demeanor was a strong and capable leader. Looking back down at his little ice-sculpture, Yuki held his hand over it once more.
The phoenix was morphed into a crystal-clear, one-foot-tall version of Yuu, positioned as if he were in motion, a dance one could say.
The demon looked sideways to see Yuu looking at the figurine with a distant look in his clouded eyes. He looked away and was about to change it when a hand grabbed his own, stopping him.
Yuki lowered his hand to rest on his knee, silently obeying his lord's unspoken wish. The blonde froze though when moments later a light weight rested on his shoulder and he looked down to see Yuu's raven-haired head, those lovely faded blue eyes closed in rest.
He relaxed almost visibly ten, allowing himself to enjoy this one small comfort.
"We flow in a perfect circle of opposites."
