Broken Boat, Revived Memories

*~.~*

Merely sixteen years old

And all alone

Isolated in a forgotten place

With no more than pooling mud for company

No one to care

***

Her long, dark hair was swept up in a messy bun

She didn’t bother with her appearance

There was no one to see her anyway

***

Her silhouette appeared longer than it really was

All in the fading light

As it bent over the broken boards of the boat

***

Her long, pale pink dress messed and torn

A trip down memory lane gone wrong

Causing her features to appear drab and worn out

***

Her emerald green eyes appeared pale turquoise in the fading light

Her translucent skin burnt and frayed by the day of relentless sun

As she had sat on the shelter less mudflats

Tears of loneliness streaming down her face

While she tried to repair the broken fragments of the boat

Her only ticket back home to her life

***

Her heart beats faster in wasted hope

A makeshift flag raised high as a signal of surrender to the sun

She thinks she's never going to get out

Stuck because of a memory she was so desperate to retrieve

***

A/N: One of the last pieces I wrote on that trip three weeks ago :) Inspired by a painting, the same one the last one was :)
