Preface

"Step through the portal, Lisa."

The girl in question hesitated. Her purple eyes glimmered uncertainly.

"Step through the portal, and everything will be resolved. You won't have to go through anymore life-shaking changes, and no large decisions will be forced on you."

The large, blue-green gateway swirled temptingly. Would it be worth it, throwing away her life, for another?

"Step through the portal, Lisa."

There he was again. That fake, fake man was repeating himself, trying to get her to go in. Why was he doing this? Was it all…a trick? A conspiracy? That was it—it had to be!

Well, she wouldn't be fooled! She wouldn't give into the selfish desires of her heart; she would be logical and reasonable, like her mother had been, during the short time of her life.

Lisa started to step away from the portal, away from the man, and out of the room. But suddenly, she was grabbed, and planted, in front of the turquoise enigma.

"Now, Lisa, that's not the way you play the game; you have to go through the portal, or say no. If you say no, you stop existing. Remember?"

That stupid man. She hated him. With his perfectly swept black hair, and his pearly white teeth, he could have been on the cover of any magazine. However, according to him, he was only a messenger.

"Remember?" Speak of the devil.

Oh, she remembered, all right. She remembered, and didn't like it. Why HAD she agreed to this, again?

"If you go into the portal, Daniel won't get hurt. Daniel will be supported by all of us, and he won't get hurt anymore."

That was right; she had done it for Daniel. Poor, poor Daniel…

Stuck between a rock and a hard place. Great. Unfortunately for her, there was nothing she could do.

She stepped into the portal, which closed behind her with a snap.

A/N: I don't know where I'm going with this. But still, tell me what you think! Is it good? Is it bad?
