Just so you know, this was inspired while listening to the song Starrider by Foreigner. I know this is a very short post, but I'm trying to decide whether or not to expand this into a full-length story. I would greatly appreciate any feedback regarding it. Also, any constructive criticism will be held and treasured.
A young man looked out of the hole that was his chamber window. He could see the night sky through it, black and full of stars. Maybe, somewhere amongst these stars, there was someone else out there, looking at the same sky, thinking of things the same way as he. He just gazed and gazed, wondering if other people would find those who lived on the other planets and in other systems. Maybe they would find them. Maybe they already had. Maybe they don't want to.
These thoughts felt bittersweet to the poor lad. He wanted so badly to have some kind of a friend, to know about somewhere else and someone else's life, a life outside his own planet.
And, somewhere down on Earth, a young man looked up to the sky out of his bedroom window, and wondered the exact same thing.
