No Such Thing

Take the box

from the shelf

and that one

photograph

falls to the

ground. My heart

skips a beat

I freeze like

a statue

How had I

forgotten?

Summer eyes,

crooked smile,

his soft hand

touching mine

Forbidden.

It hurts to

remember

I place it

back on the

dusty shelf

Because it

belongs there.
