A/N: Masquerade is actually a joint project between me and my classmate, who decides to go under the pen name PolarTwilight. Basically, we're writing in the point of view of the opposite gender; him as a girl and me, as a guy. This is the first time we're both doing a joint project with another person, so we're actually picking up the pieces as we go on. We certainly hope we can pull this off! :)

Here's the Prologue for the characters we will be writing as - Kenneth Chevercourt and Isabella Lark. Reviews are greatly appreciated!

Full Summary (it's too long to be posted up front ._.)

Humans are all characters in a masquerade ball.
When someone desires to find out who they are under the masks they live on, they will die to protect it.
It becomes who they are. What they need. What sustains, drives and feeds them.
They're afraid people might find out who they are before they find it out themselves.

Prologue – Kenneth Chevercourt

Who are you that I'm searching for,
In the millions of faces and more
Passing by like the sea tossed in the breeze
Comprehension hits there's not one for me

Victory sweet and blazes of glory
All pass by like the oldest history
After which all in life seems empty
Though minds think I'm satisfied and plenty

The notes fit layer by layer into a score,
And the artist brushstrokes completes more and more,
Dying for the thing for the harmony
In the completeness of the paint and note in symphony

In here my winded twisted story goes
Of my life and love a story it sows
Full of emptiness and pain,
But of what I'm looking for, who knows?

Prologue – Isabella Lark

“Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player
That struts and frets his hour upon the stage
And then is heard no more: it is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing."

I've always loved poetry, especially Shakespeare. But I want to believe that I was meant for something more. That life doesn't have to be as empty as he said.

Hope is often said to be the most dangerous thing, a thing that drives a man insane.

What keeps me going? I don't know. Maybe I want to be more than a poor player behind the scenes.

Ever wondered how long it takes to change your life? What measure of time is enough to be life-altering?

Is it four years, like high school? One year? An eight-week walking tour?

Can your life change in a month, or a week, or a single day?

We're always in a hurry to grow up, to go places, to get ahead... but when you’re young, one hour can change everything.

Hope is a good thing, and a good thing never dies.
