heartbreak city

I’m trying to find,
I’m trying to see,
What you really mean to me

Ride on, ride off,
Heartbreak city’s next stop,
Ride on, ride out,
Maybe I should get off

Underneath and down below,
Far beyond the city’s glow
There are cheap glitter meadows,
And through this scene
A pure grey sheen
Of powdered snow and plastic smiles
I’ll walk those thousand miles

Ride on, ride off,
Heartbreak city’s next stop,
Ride on, ride out,
Right now I’m getting off

I’m trying to find,
I’m trying to see,
What you really mean to me,
We’ll ride to see the stars,
You’ll be in your white car,
We’ll drive through sorrow,
And fake laughs
And meet the dawn tomorrow

Will you stay through it all?
Will you take care of my soul?
Not my heart, that’s too free,
Scattered out across the sea,
One day it’ll return to me

But for now, please take care,
Maybe I’ll be alone if I dare

Or maybe now,
I’ll choose to stay,
And face this new dawning day,
It might be hard
And there might be pain,
And almost too much happiness to feign

Ride on, ride off,
Heartbreak city’s next stop,
Ride on, ride out,
Please stop, I’m getting off

Mired in these thoughts of mine,
An answer and a sign,
Don’t wait up, because I’ll call,
If I decide to let myself fall

.fin.

A/N: even more angst! companion poem to mired in these thoughts of mine, a short one-shot. and, again, this is all completely mine so no stealing, okay?
