A/N: An odd piece about how I've been feeling recently. Its meaning is pretty clear-cut to me, but my hope is it can take on its own meaning for anyone who reads it.

Drabble. 100 words exactly.

As if through a looking glass, the world unfolds. Crumpled up papers and memories reach to the light; words and colors spring to life. They circle, a kaleidoscope vision forever changing. Blink. A new picture takes shape. Blink. A new form replaces the old.

The world dances before you, a landscape of crystal trees and glass figures. You reach out to them, beckon them with your breath, lace your fingertips along their smooth skin.

But the kaleidoscope fractures, and the beads fall into place. Reality reconstructs as the crystalline world shatters—a world seen only through the film of tears.
