Part I: Rising of a Deity
Prologue: A Baby is Born
It was a dark and cold night in Athens, snow covering the ground, as a lone traveler walked along one of the many roads running through Greece. In her hands was a bundle, and wrapped in the bundle was a baby. The woman was on her way to the airport, with enough money that would let her start a new life in America, free of Greece for hopefully eternity. Even though the woman had lived all her long life in Greece, she never enjoyed it as much as her peers; there was too much drama surrounding the place. The baby was not her own, but of her former masters’, and she had it only because they wanted their daughter safe, for a prophecy had been proclaimed in Delphi about the baby, that she would change the history of the gods forever and would make an even older prophecy come true with her rising.
In fear of their daughter’s fate, her masters had to reach one painful decision about their daughter’s future, and that was to send her away, so she could be safe from all the prophecies, and from Greece itself. They had chosen the woman though to be the baby’s guardian because she was the most loyal out of all their subjects, proving her loyalty many times over when they asked things of her. Plus, she herself saw this as her opportunity for freedom after centuries of the same scenery. She had always wanted to see the great America she heard countless tourists talk about. Things got boring when you lived forever.
Soon enough she arrived at the airport, with no problems at all as she got her bags checked and went through security. As she sat waiting for her flight, she looked down at the baby sleeping in her lap. The baby was already very beautiful, with light hair and huge blue green eyes that were closed in slumber. Her skin was already slightly tanned, even though she was only three months old, and her nose was small yet already defined. She had the rosiest cheeks the woman had ever seen on a baby, and the reddest lips she ever laid eyes on too.
“What a little oddity you are,” the woman whispered to the baby girl. “No doubt about it though: you are going to be a pretty little thing when you grow up. I really hope the best for you in your already blossoming life. It’s a good thing though you were born in this time period; you get to live in a modern world!” All the baby did in response was let out a small sigh in her sleep. The woman smiled.
“You’re a lucky baby so far, I just hope the gods never discover you, otherwise that precious luck of yours I fear will run out.”
This story was almost going to go into the Mythology section, but it didn't because no NEW stories about the old myths are taking place, just simply the gods, but this is mostly going to be romance. Enjoy!
