Prologue

Our story takes place in the kingdom of Rinoac. Set on the seaside of the great land of Yelancia, it was considered the paradise of the land. Lush green forests, wide lanes, and of course the enchanting seaside: beautiful beaches and charming cliffs overlooking the waves of crystal blue.

As with many lands, not all of the politicians agreed. War was a constant threat to the many kingdoms of Yelancia, but it was never even a thought to the Rinoacans, the people of Rinoac. Their king was a benevolent ruler, generous and kind. He governed the land with the grace it deserved. His proud and beautiful queen had given him only one child before her untimely death: his daughter Vivienna.

Vivienna, while kind to all she met, had not the disposition necessary to be the princess of a land. Instead of learning the art of government, she spent much of her time riding horses down the Rinoac coast, reading stories of the far east of Yelancia, and of course learning to spar. Her father, though not entirely thrilled with the idea of his only daughter playing with weapons, allowed her to pursue whatever it was that made her happiest – and for that very reason, among others, Lady Vivienna adored her father.

As she reached the proper age of marriage, twenty in the land of Yelancia, her father began to worry that there may not be a suitor that would appreciate his daughter's unique free spirit. However, seeing his daughter's smile over those short twenty years was worth whatever hardship he faced while picking a suitable suitor.

Yet, with the whispers of the kingdom of Rehjin preparing an attack on their quiet seaside neighbors, Rinoac was about to experience quite a change to their paradise.
