Abyss

The barrel of the gun sits between my rattling teeth

And for the first time in my life I question

My existence

How did things get this far?

The breaking point, when the glass shatters all around you

But the stone in you hand has yet to be thrown

Thoughts run over thoughts, words run over words

And the note on the table is written for those I leave behind

But if anyone will even come in to read it afterwards, I cant say

How did I let you consume me?

The last half of my bleeding heart barely beating in my chest

The stitches sloppily tied together to hold what little is left

The chattering in my head grows louder

Drowning out all the reasoning for my actions

But I am still unable to remove my finger from the trigger

Is it truly too late to turn back?

As I slowly tug on the last thread of anything real

And grasp the depths of the unknown abyss
