After having just completed a major fanfiction story, I decided I'd use my productivity streak in writing an original fiction story. I'm currently writing chapter three, so you can be sure of at least another chapter to follow. Please leave a review and tell me how I've done so far :)

Chapter One

“Get your hand out of there!”

“Give me back my muffins, then!”

“B-but I want them!”

“Never!” Emma Peters growled, snarling at her black haired friend. “You know muffins are orgasmic to me, and simply putting them in your crotch will not stop me from having my muffins!”

“B-but they’re so good…” whimpered James Brione, and immediately he began pulling off his puppy-dog face. Of course, Emma would not fall for such tactics, and it didn’t help that the brown-haired girl had been friends with James since their days in preschool—and was thus aware of his habit of being too whiny.

“Give them back. Now.” James winced as she flashed him a warning glare with her hazelnut eyes, and with her hand stuffed well into his pants he knew he couldn’t resist much longer. There was only so much room down there, eventually her hands would find the—

“Found it!”

…muffin.

James sighed in relief as Emma pulled her hand from his pants, and he ignored her for the moments she ogled the muffin now safely in her hands. He knew that Emma did not like being wronged and would go to any means just to be right… and whether that referred to simply answering a question correctly or being deprived of a muffin….

“You sure you’re not gay?” someone asked suddenly, and James turned to find his sister Lily eyeing him intently. In fact, they were all seated at the lunch table that Monday morning—all being he and his friends. Or perhaps it was to say he and his sister’s friends, as he was merely a junior and the majority of them were seniors.

James glared at his older sister. “Why would you even suggest such a crazy idea like that?”

“Because,” began his sister rather pointedly, “you just had a girl stick her hand down your pants, even mentioning the word orgasmic as she basically stimulated your lower half—and you didn’t exactly give the response most boys your age give.”

“But she’s just Emma,” James replied nonchalantly. “And what do you mean by most boys my age?”

“And what do you mean by she’s just Emma?” Emma snapped, insulted.

“You must not be any good, Emma,” Blake Anderson interjected, and internally James cheered for his savior’s appearance. “You didn’t even make him orgasm.”

“He’s just incompetent,” was Emma’s simple reply.

At that, James had fallen out of his chair. “It burns, Blake, her hatred pierces—”

“Shut up, James, you’re being a baby.”

“Blake, even my own sister has turned against—!”

“Calm down, girls.” Surprisingly enough, even to the disbelieving Ryan Smith who had made the remark, the lunch table quieted down to his demand.

“I am not one of them,” James whined, looking over at Emma and his sister as if they were aliens.

“James,” began Lily, shaking her head in disgust; “you’re such a drama queen sometimes, you know?”

“Blake!” James whined, turning to the brown-haired boy to his right. “Blake, my sister called me a drama queen!”

“She doesn’t mean it,” was his reply, and though Lily opened her mouth to argue in response Blake silenced her with a glare. “Anyway, you want to get food now? The line’s gotten shorter.”

“Good idea!” James exclaimed, and the two got up. He gave Lily a false look of hurt before chasing after his friend. The truth was James knew Lily didn’t really hate her brother, and though he probably annoyed her too often for her liking, deep down inside she loved him.

…or at least, that’s what he wanted to believe. Even though it was likely true.

“You really need to tone down on the provoking,” Blake said with a sigh, rubbing his head as he peered over to their table. “They’ve seemed to calm down, at the least.”

James pouted, following his glance to the table. Emma was already up on her feet once more, this time reading something off a sheet of paper. “They started it.”

“Maybe you need to work on not being the provoked then,” said Blake quietly.

“You’re so mean,” James replied. “You’re no better than any of them, are you?”

“Of course I am. I’m still here aren’t I?”

“Only because you need to buy food too,” James pointed out.

“Fine, you caught me.”

“So then you don’t love me?” And against Blake’s surprise, James pouted once more as he said this. “I knew it!—my best friend’s abandoned me.”

“Hardly,” was Blake’s reply. “You’re just paranoid, that’s all.”

“So you do love me!” Blake shrugged embarrassedly as he ignored the curious glances of the other people in line.

“If you want to call it that. Just… I dunno, be quiet for a bit, or at least don’t cause a public disaster on me, okay?”

“Fine.”

“Now that being said, did you do your AP Physics homework?”

“Of course!” James replied ecstatically, and Blake sighed in relief. It wasn’t necessarily mastering the art of pushing James’s buttons; Blake preferred to call it knowing his interests—physics happened to be one of them. It was just one of the reasons why they happened to be in the same class despite James being a grade younger… and that James was just unnaturally smart to begin with.

Now that they were on a decent and not embarrassing topic, Blake needed to keep him there. “I didn’t do it,” he lied.

“What? But it’s due at the end of the day!”

“I know. Is it hard?”

“Hard?” James’s eyes widened in shock. “You seriously didn’t do it, Blake! It’s going to take you forever! No, it’s not hard or anything, just… long.”

“I see,” Blake replied, though he already knew that himself; it had taken him a good hour and a half the night before. “But circular motion isn’t really that hard of a topic, so at least it’ll fly by quickly.”—another lie.

“I know, it’s much more exciting than linear motion,” James said in agreement, his face lighting up at the thought of it. “But do you know what’ll be even better? Next semester, when we get into the chapter about light and reflection—”

“I liked that chapter,” Blake interrupted, nodding. But he really hated that topic, and it had been the only topic he’d done poorly on in his preliminary year of physics the school year before.

“I can’t wait for it!” James said yet again, and Blake was suddenly glad it was his turn to order next; he didn’t have a clue how to respond to that. He quickly ordered his food—the usually hamburger with fries—and after he’d received his food he waited for James to finish with his order.

“Hot dog with no mustard?” Blake asked once his friend had finished, and James nodded eagerly.

“I love that lady so much, Blake. She already has my order memorized!”

“I’d imagine,” was Blake’s reply, and the two fell silent—not necessarily because they had nothing more to say, but because it had always been a hassle to navigate through the cafeteria tables without dropping their food; talking was simply another distraction, should the two want to return to their table clean.

When the two returned and seated themselves, the first thing James had noticed was that Emma’s muffin had finally been consumed. The second thing he noticed was Ryan’s absence.

“He said he had to make up a test,” Lily explained when she saw the puzzlement on James’s face as he stared at Ryan’s empty seat.

“But there’s only like ten minutes of lunch left!” James exclaimed, looking at his sister in confusion.

“The test is for his next class. He’s just leaving early.”

“Leave it to James to not understand,” Emma said with a happier tone in her voice, and though James pouted and whined at her he said nothing. The truth was, despite their earlier bickering, the two were actually quite close friends. Not quite as close as he was to Blake, of course—but he’d known Emma since preschool, and she was by far the friend he’d had for the longest. But she was much more frank than Blake was, and so consequently she fought a lot more with James. And though James tended to whine and complain about everything, sometimes even he knew when Emma would not let down or be convinced otherwise.

“That’s better,” said Lily, nodding approvingly at Emma. “Anyway, you’re all still up to go ice skating this Friday, right?—James, you don’t have a choice.”

“But, but!”—but Lily’s glare was enough to silence him.

Emma was the first to respond. “I’ll come,” she said. “You only turn eighteen once, right?”

“You’re turning eighteen at the ice rink!” James yelled, and immediately he burst into laughter. “That’s so….”

“I’m spending my twenty-first birthday partying all night, don’t worry,” Lily assured her brother. “It’s just that none of you are eighteen anyway, so there’s no point in doing anything exclusive to eighteen-year-olds. And I’ll pass on the cancer sticks.”

“Fine,” James said, poking his tongue out at his sister. “You win.”

“I know,” she replied cheekily, turning to Blake. “You coming?”

“Can’t.”

What?!” both Lily and James yelled at the same time, causing Blake to lean back at the sudden wave of hostility towards his decision.

“I refuse to go!” James whined, looking toward his sister—but her glare silenced him once more.

“You’ll do this kid a favor,” Lily muttered, nodding her head towards her brother. “Anyway, what’s your excuse?”

Blake laughed. “I can’t skate.”

“That’s the lamest excuse!” Lily yelled, now giving her glare to Blake too. “You’re coming. You don’t get a choice either.”

“Fine,” Blake said with a shrug. Turning to his friend, who seemed beside himself in joy that he “wouldn’t be alone,” Blake thought quietly to himself:

How bad could it be?

I figured the chapter lengths should grow progressively longer, in case any of you are wondering why it's a little shorter than my normal length. I'll do my best not to abandon this story, but I know I probably won't since James is such a fun character to write. And again, chapter 2 is already done, so if anything you'll at least get a second chapter. But I'm aiming for more, of course.

For anyone interested, I have a twitter account you are more than welcome to follow. My username is GenisAurion, and if you prefer a link it's in my author profile.

Reviews are nice :)
