Your Lingering Smile
#
Still I remember the look on your face,
The smile you saved only for me,
The path you covered just to see me,
The comforting warmth your presence granted.
#
Still I remember how fragile you seemed,
How my mind would not comprehend,
How cruel and unjust fate proved to be,
How life could so easily change.
#
Now I sit here and wonder
Where you are.
Do you remember the way I do?
Do you look down on me from up above?
For I miss the smile you showed even in your darkest hours.
#
Yet I do believe that where you are
There is no pain
There is no sorrow
That there you are safe and well;
And that the day we meet again
You'll greet me with the smile you left me with.
