the city placed inside my head is in ruins
but that's how it has always been
since before i knew you, before i knew me

towers were crumbling and i bumbling
about how ecstatic i was with whatshisname
how could i never know what happiness was?

what i'm rambling about has a purpose i swear
it's that things have been rebuilding this year
more recently and quickly then it ever has.

the city placed inside my head is growing
lush and grand where a breeze is blowing
ruins still sit there, because you can't erase time
but you can make the future better
with some love and a little rhyme.
