Hehe yeah this should be interesting… XD
July 30, 2009 - Piercings
Justine sighed. She couldn’t believe that she was doing this. Chloe was urging her on, but her twin sister Jen was pleading her not to. She was sitting in the chair with her shirt up, about to get her bellybutton pierced.
“C’mon Justine! It’ll look so awesome on you!” Chloe said, holding her hand.
“You know that Mother will kill you. And then Father will kill me for not stopping you.” Jen said. Justine tried to block her out. Go to your happy place… She was thinking. She saw in her mind a place similar to Narnia, snowy, with lots of trees. Her sister was there, and so was Chloe, and their other friend Jin, who was in China on vacation. They walked and laughed and threw snow at each other. She fantasized for another minute or two until she heard:
“Ok, so which one do you want?” She opened her eyes and a severely pierced and tattooed woman was sitting in front of her, holding up a piece of Plexiglas with about twelve bellybutton rings on it. There was one with almost every color of the rainbow on there. She settled on one with two pretty clear gray studs in it. “Ok. Gonna clean the area now and then we can get this over with!” She smiled. Justine thought that the smile that she had on now did not work with her face. It was too happy, and this girl did not look like the happy type. She looked down at her stomach, which she always had issues with, but was told that she was “too skinny” for her height – five foot six. She winced slightly as the girl touched her with the alcohol swab, but quickly got over the sudden cold.
Happy place, happy place, happy place, happy place, happy place… She chanted over and over again in her head. “Ok, you’ll feel a pinch.” The girl said. Justine sucked in a deep breath, and squeezed Chloe’s hand. She squeezed her eyes closed and held the breath. She envisioned her Narnia again, and then it was over. All she felt was a lot of pressure and a sudden pain. She opened her eyes.
“That’s it?!” She asked, smiling. The girl nodded, and proceeded to give her instructions on how to care for her new piercing for the next year or so. After she was done she got up and paid for the ring and then walked out with her sister and friend.
“Oh my God! I was so right that looks so good on you!” Chloe said.
“Jen? Whatcha think?” Justine asked her sister, an expecting look in her eyes.
Jen sighed, relenting, “I’ve got to admit, that does look good on you.” She smiled and laughed with the other two.
“I wonder what Jin’ll say?” Justine asked, thinking about their conservative Korean friend.
“Haha, I’ll bet he’ll freak. He hates piercings anywhere except the ears.” Chloe laughed.
They continued to walk back to the twins house, laughing happily.
