A/N: This story isn't in any relation to any other story that I or Riley have written before. This is especially not in any relation to So Wrong, But Feels So Right. What Hurts the Most
Summary-“You know that saying, ‘If you know someone who is being abused and you look the other way, you are just as bad as the abuser yourself?’” “Yeah.” “Well, are we abusing ourselves? Because, we don’t ever try and get help.” “You know why we can’t. It’s because he’ll kill us if we do. We have no choice.”

“When was the first time you ever had the suspicion that something was was wrong in the Jackson household?” the overweight police officer, Officer Stone, said gently clasping his hands in his lap.
He was sitting behind his desk, staring intently at the two boys in front of him. Their heads were bent, as they had been for the past ten minutes, as they stared at the floor. Their fingers were twisted together tightly. The boy on the right groaned.
“We’ve already told you a thousand times,” he muttered, lifting his head, his brown hair falling into his tired blue eyes. “Why do we have to tell you again?”
“How long is he going to be in jail for?” the boy on the left asked, continuing to stare at his lap. He was speaking in a soft tone, all the events that happened earlier that night, taking a toll on his body. “What’s going to happen to our friends?”
“Well, we’re going to see to it that Mr. Jackson will be in a jail for a long time for what he’s done,” Officer stone replied, shifting in his seat. “As for the definite amount of time, we’re not sure of that yet. Your friends are going to be put into foster care. Their foster families will be picking them up tomorrow.”
“Families?” the boy on the left asked. “As in, plural?”
“Yes, Mr. Porter, families,” Officer Stone replied, with a short nod.
“But, you can’t split them up,” the boy on the right spoke up, his green eyes widening. “They need each other.”
“This is the best thing for them right now, Mr. Quiseng,” Officer Stone said giving him a weary look. “None of us are happy about it. They would be split up anyway.”
“What do you mean?” the two boys asked in unison.
“There’s a certain age limit where people voluntarily adopt, or in this case, take a child into their home,” Officer Stone replied. “Riley and Rhuben are both sixteen and no one really looks for sixteen year olds to take into their home. Their brothers, Patrick, Noah, and Sydney, on the other hand, have a greater chance.”
The two boys exchanged glances before slumping in their chairs.
“I don’t understand,” the boy on the right muttered, shaking their heads. “Why does it have to be like this? They don’t deserve it.”
“Zach? Cameron?”
Zach and Cameron turned their heads to face their parents. “We should get going. It’s getting late. We can come back tomorrow before they leave.”
“Just one more thing,” Officer Stone said putting up his hand. “Could you explain everything from the beginning one more time?”
Zach and Cameron let out another groan. Zach sucked in a deep breath before letting it out. “It all started on a normal Monday morning.”
