PROLOGUE
The wind blows my shoulder length chestnut hair around my face making it dance in the darkness. The cold breeze sends shivers down my spine and forces me to hug myself for warmth. Streetlights guide me through the streets amongst small houses that all practically look the same.
Rain begins to sprinkle down from the sky, so I put my hood up around my head. A dog begins to bark in a low tone off in a close distance, probably at shadows that are swaying from the tree branches in the moonlight. I can’t help but to be semi-paranoid though and begin to walk faster down the sidewalk.
I hear a noise come from across the street. It sounds like walking, fast walking. I stop in my tracks and look across the street. I see nothing and continue to walk home. I decide to quicken my pace just in case I’m being followed. Suddenly the footsteps stop and I look back across the street, this time I don’t stop and keep walking. I still don’t see anyone.
Chills run up my arms now and I begin to run in the direction of my house. I finally come to my porch and rush up the stairs. I pull my keys out of my pocket and unlock the door. Before I walk inside I turn around for one last glance across the street. I still see nothing.
