Problems in Perpetuity
Now your second largest asset could be superannuation.
So invest the money now, in case you live to see it grow.
If you die, and you've already gone through marriage separation,
Will your girlfriend, ex, or next of kin reap every seed you sew?
While you're paying off a mortgage, working harder to aspire
To a goal beyond retrenchment, can you minimize your tax?
Will you shape a better future for yourself, when you retire?
Can it pay for all that hair dye, when you're living to the max?
If the men in charcoal suits make sure your contribution earns
Lots of extra money, even after consultation fees,
Then you're only risking future laws, that could eat your returns,
When the government incumbent makes new rules that seldom please.
As the rising bills and problems keep financial pressures mounting,
And the assets you make use of end up bankrolled by a loan;
And you know your mental health just can't be rescued by accounting,
Will the repossession agents come for everything you own?
When you're getting on, and sleep at night without your natural dentures,
Will you see results from every sacrificial contribution?
Will you wonder how they ever talked you into those debentures,
When the mattress made of money might have been the best solution?
When the seminars you go to keep you paying full attention,
(While you're nodding off and wishing you were sleeping with your missus)?
Will the superannuation fund provide a proper pension,
When the family court has raised the bill for all those hugs and kisses?
