“Belief is the death of intelligence.”

- Robert Anton Wilson

---

You’ve tried to talk to the religious, tried to understand. It’s important to you that you do, a lot of friends are religious, but you’ve come to the conclusion that you’ll never really understand; you’re not built for it. Part of it is that the way you think is different. In the end it comes down to the basics.

And you do mean the end, because no matter what you do it always seems to take hours to get down to the basics. You love your friends, you do, but when it comes to their religion, they don’t really seem to know how to simplify, and even if they do try to summarize it still seems to take forever and a day.

Part of you is ready to give up and let it go; you’ll never understand. And the other part is screaming in stubborn frustration; you want to understand, you may even need to understand, but no matter what you do it’s beyond you; you can’t understand, but you’re not willing to give up yet.

It makes you think of the ancient Egyptians, it’s interesting yes, but in correlation to the real world it doesn’t make much sense. But they believe it with their very beings and you’ve been forced to wonder if they’re not just gassy.

Honestly, you’re not sure which you’d prefer.
