The words seem so far away

Ducking aside as they're reached out for

Like an untrusting stranger

Ignorant to aiding the helpless

The mind continues to try and grab the phrases

And pull them to the surface

Sitting in this prison of my own creation

A half-painted room of memories and fears

The place I wish to get away from

But somehow always end up at

Night after long night

Waiting for the right words to come

Nothing sounds right

Everything's so wrong

Where are the perfect words?

Where is this literary gold?

Searching endlessly for the phrases on my tongue

Attempting to give them vocals

So they'll be more than tattered fragments in my head
