RUBEN
prologue
There are people who do not take death well. Some cry, weep, sob until their eye sockets are dried out and they can't find the energy to speak. Others drink themselves into oblivion, forgetting who they are, and wondering why every breath they took hurt to breathe.
But that is not the case for Hollis Denver.
As she watches the casket slowly lower into the ground, she feels her lips curve a bit. "Man," she says, turning to look at Gabriel. "She had it coming."
