… Ok, god, you guys are so lazy…

I do not own Evanescence or the song “Bring Me to Life”

But I do have cookies~

How can you see into my eyes like open doors?

Leading you down into my core

Where I’ve become so numb

Without a soul my spirit sleeping somewhere cold

Until you find it there and lead it back home

The body of the blond female trembled as she lay strewn on the linoleum floor - her arms glowing with the vile color of red. Her hair was matted to her face as the tears fell from her ice blue eyes.

Where is he…?” she thought. “Does he not love me anymore…?”

She tilted her head slightly to stare down at the marked arms. Blood flowed onto the floor but she continued. The blade sliced across her skin yet again, though she barely had enough strength to keep it in her grasp anymore. When it finally went through, her hands continued to tremble. Her vision blurred and she closed her eyes.

I’m so sorry…” she apologized, before she dropped the blade - the tick of it hitting the floor being the last sound she could remember

(Wake me up)

Wake me up inside

(I can’t wake up)

Wake me up inside

(Save me)

Call my name and save me from the dark

(Wake me up)

Bid my blood to run

(I can’t wake up)

Before I come undone

(Save me)

Save me from the nothing I’ve become

Steps pounded through the rain that poured onto the streets as his clothes stuck to his frail-esque frame. “Damn it,” he cursed before he sprinted - evading traffic as effectively as possible.

Please don’t let her die,” he thought to himself before he broke into the asylum.

“Sir! You can’t come in here! It’s past visiting hours!” the nurse yelled.

Not bothering to listen to the elderly woman, he rushed past her - murmuring a curse as he did so to emphasize his lack of affection for their rules. One of their patients, his lover, was dying and they don’t even know about it!

Now that I know what I’m without

You can't just leave me

Breathe into me and make me real

Bring me to life

The elevator was packed to the brim, he had noticed, and he instead took the stairs. He was lucky that he was on track - his stamina was great and it was about time he used it for a good purpose. He totally forgot to come visit her today, and she was already paranoid enough as it is. He shook his head as he continued to climb up the stairs.

He never should’ve gone on that lunch-date with that woman. She was too sluttish anyway.

(Wake me up)

Wake me up inside

(I can’t wake up)

Wake me up inside

(Save me)

Call my name and save me from the dark

(Wake me up)

Bid my blood to run

(I can’t wake up)

Before I come undone

(Save me)

Save me from the nothing I’ve become

He threw the door open to the 10th floor - the one she was on - before running the through hallways. His green eyes were frantically searching - looking for any sign of her; her blonde hair, her pale skin, her beautiful eyes…

Anything that would bring her back to him. He needed her with him no matter what the cost was.

A large puddle of red flashed by his eyes and he ran towards it. “No, no, no, no! She couldn’t have done it!” he argued to himself.

But it’s possible that she could’ve - the question was how?

Bring me to life

(I've been living a lie, there's nothing inside)

Bring me to life

He lifted her body - scooping her up into his arms before he pressed his Bluetooth - calling 911.

911, what’s your emergency?” the operator asked.

“My girlfriend has severely injured herself in the West Coast Asylum. I need an ambulance here immediately,” he answered briskly as he started down the stairs.

Is it - ”

“Ma’am, please. She’s bleeding heavily from her arms and wrists. She needs to get to a real hospital now,” he pleaded before hanging up; continuing down the stairs.

Frozen inside without your touch without your love

Darling,

Only you are the life among the dead

Her eyes fluttered open, though she couldn’t see clearly. There were a lot of flashing lights and she felt a soft cushion of a bed underneath her. There was warmth covering her hand, though it was coming and going.

“Sir, please refrain yourself!” a loud voice ordered.

“Let me have my last moments with her, please sir…” a familiar, rough voice cried.

He’s here…?

All this time I can't believe I couldn't see

Kept in the dark but you were there in front of me

I’ve been sleeping a thousand years it seems

Got to open my eyes to everything

Without a thought without a voice without a soul

Don’t let me die here

There must be something more

Bring me to life

Memories of her were flashing through his head. Their first date…

God that was beautiful. Her smile was exquisite. Then, she came down with this. He didn’t even know much about it. He was so scared that he was going to lose her the first time around.

The vision of her lying down, her body too pale for him to comprehend, in that hospital bed the first time was hard enough. What was he going to do if she died this time?

(Wake me up)

Wake me up inside

(I can’t wake up)

Wake me up inside

(Save me)

Call my name and save me from the dark

(Wake me up)

Bid my blood to run

(I can’t wake up)

Before I come undone

(Save me)

Save me from the nothing I’ve become

The ambulance doors bursted open suddenly as the EMTs grabbed the gurney; bringing it out of the ambulance van and pushing it through the doors of the hospital. It was at least five guys surrounding it, and he had trouble keeping up with the rushed emergency. As the group passed through the emergency room doors. He fell onto his knees; tears falling from his eyes like the pouring rain outside.

His shakings hands came together slowly before pressing against each other as he bowed his head. “God, I’m begging you. Please, save her…,” he prayed.

Bring me to life

(I’ve been living a lie, there’s nothing inside)

Bring me to life

“She’s convulsing! Doctor, you must hurry!” the nurse called out as she helped the other two keep the blood from running completely out of her body from the major wound on her arm.

“Henry, c’mon,” his mother urged as she helped him onto his feet, “There we go…” He wobbled upward before walking towards the doors of the E.R., watching the doctor work on her as quickly as they could. His eyes glazed over to the electrocardiograph; trying to be with her and watch if she would really live.

The tears flowed again when the monitor stopped receiving - a blank line indicating her death as she convulsed one last time…

A/N: So, it’s been a while since I wrote a depressing one-shot. I think this was a fairly good one, considering that it’s been based off of such a classic song. The main purpose of this was to try to tie it with the actual song - not so much in-depth with the lyrics. If you listen to the song as you read it (you have to be able to skim-read and know what you read) you’ll understand. The ticking of the blade hitting the linoleum floor signifies the pause in the playing before the band continued the song in the very beginning.

Another main purpose of writing this was to pretty much to convey a different perspective of the song. Most people I know of my age have used this song as “their song” between them and their partner. But, as you should be able to see through the images I tried to portray to you, there’s a much more delicate side to this song.

Anyway, before I burst off into some in-depth psychoanalysis on the world, I should let you guys review.

Please review! I’ll mail you some cookies!
