A/N : Alright. I managed to pull this together during the bits of time I have left after I’ve finished my exam papers. xD
Chapter 3
I laid my back against the shady tree, settling into one of my sketching positions. A stray stick poked me in the back and I reached backwards to get the offending stick away before it did anymore harm. Flipping my sketch book open, I continued to work on my previous sketch. Soon, I realized that my free period was almost over. I began my trek back to common society, away from my comfort zone. I checked my watch again to ensure that I would reach class in time. I needed to go back to my room to collect the Chemistry assignment papers that I forgotten to carry with me. The glaring digits on my watch displayed that I had about 15 minutes left before class was scheduled to start. That was more than enough time for me to get back to the dorms and out to the Chemistry lab.
“Excuse me?” a faint voice called out from behind me. “Excuse me? Hey, you there!” the voice called out louder this time.
I turned around slowly, clutching my books closely. He looked unfamiliar but I knew he would fit right into the elite clique in school in no time. The guy was ‘hott’, as Samantha liked to call them. He was wearing the standard school uniform; black trousers, black leather shoes, white short-sleeved shirt, navy blue blazer and tie. I knew just about everyone in the school but I was pretty sure I’ve never seen him around before.
‘If only you could ask if he was new.’ I thought quietly.
“Hi! Do you know where the guy’s dorms are?” he asked hurriedly, looking at me intently. I stared back blankly, enamored by his hypnotizing eyes. I noticed that his eyes were the exact shades of grey. They seem to sparkle in the sunlight. I blinked at him.
“Do you know where the guy’s dorms are?” he asked again.
I blinked again before his words registered in my mind. I pointed in the direction from where he came, trying not to smile in amusement. He sighed loudly, in what I assume was exasperation. Well, the school was built on 50 acres of land. It was easy to see why he got lost.
I spotted Tom Gregors walking in the direction of the blue building that I had pointed at earlier and immediately pointed the stranger in front of me at him. He seemed to understand what I was trying to convey. Without another glance, I turned away and resumed my walk back to the girl’s dorms. I heard him mumble a quiet thank you as his footsteps faded away.
All thoughts of the new guy faded from my mind when I entered the lab. My blue eyes immediately sought for the presence of a certain guy, specifically Avery James Holsbrooke.
“Hey, Avery! Have you finished that Physics assignment?” I saw Adam Duverre ask hurriedly.
“Yeah, finished it last week. You haven’t even started yours, have you?” h asked with a smile as he retrieved some papers from a folder.
‘Duh! It’s Adam.’ I thought, rolling my eyes.
”I totally forgot about it, man! Thanks buddy!” Adam said gratefully, grabbing the papers from Avery before rushing off to his seat behind the class.
My lab partner, Georgina was nowhere to be seen. I sighed loudly as I took a seat at our usual lab table. I’d know that the world was coming to an abrupt end when Georgina decides to show up to class on time, seriously. God forbid she arrives to class early. The watch I got her for her birthday last year became a casualty of one of our experiments gone horribly wrong. She left the watch near the sink for some reason that day and it didn’t stand a chance against our deadly chemical combination.
Back to the subject of Avery Holsbrooke. An almost perfect specimen of how the male species should be.
Fact #1 : He is smart and hardworking. 3.8 GPA, mind you. I learnt that when I sneaked a peek at his file when I helped a teacher deliver a stack of student files a while ago. His file happened to be on top and I couldn’t help it.
Fact #2 : He is friendly and gets along with everyone. And I do mean everyone. Teachers, friends, giggly freshmen girls, dorm wardens. Even the janitors.
Fact #3 : He is not a player. Despite his obscenely good looks and charming personality, he has only had two girlfriends over the past few years. I will not say how I know that fact. Let’s just say I have great observational skills.
Now if only Avery would notice me.
A/N : I 3 reviews. =D
