She was forgotten; lost. Not a single eye ever looked over at her; not a single ear ever heard her voice. She was abandoned. She was left in this world to wonder why she was alone.

He was the perfect person. He listened to every word that came out of someone’s mouth and he read every letter that fell under his eyes. The entire world paid attention to him and he hated it.

He yearned for another world; a world where he could be as silent as he wanted. A world where he could live with only himself. He saw people who were content with being alone and he wanted to know their secret. He wished for it daily and felt destroyed when denied it.

He wished for nothing more than a secret. A secret from the world; a secret from those around him; a secret for only him to enjoy. Every time he was questioned, he wished for that secret. A secret of his heart that no one else could hear.

He saw her as he rode by. Her hair was brown and her eyes were hazel but he could spot her from a mile away. He came near to her and heard a small gasp as their eyes met. It was a sigh no louder than a wind’s whisper. He bent down towards her and said that she was beautiful.
