Cutting Out

-

Apparition blue in a worn out

lifejacket crossing imaginary jungle

scenes, like strange coyote dreams

lumbering onward, shades of Robert

Zimmerman over by the bleachers,

he's Dylan now, and doing fine, but

further down the light bulb bursts,

crash, bang, slam, it's all glass

and timid aftermaths forever man.

Tweed condolences, and apple cores

by the sink simmering in moonlight

so pink that eternity cries darling,

dear, where have the hot hours gone.

Starving for cordial affirmations

the lily wilts by the basement stairs.

A little yellow left in this artificial

light. Minnesota to the Village,

will the motive reach the wind.
