The joy
The relief
The warmth of happiness
The washing away of grief

How it feels to be free
Let out a breath of ease
Like a life without care
In a world filled with peace

To resume our lives
Without a single day spent
In angst and agony
Stuck on the internet

Returning to work
Getting caught back up
As if nothing happened
To have our jobs interrupt

We can smile again
And laugh and talk in fun
Just like before
Before the clunks had begun

We may be busy
None may have been paid
But a life or normalcy
With the clunkers all laid

What can come next
Nothing will ever be worse
Than the tedium stress
Of the CARS program curse

So pardon our laughs
And excuse our cries
These are tears of joy
And relieved sighs

You may never understand
What we all just went through
But it’s all done now
That much we know is true

The clock has tolled
Our lives may restart
With a timecard in hand
And a song in our heart

We’ll process your plates
And fund your contracts
Pending that those clunkers
Never ever come back
