A/N: I like this chapter, let me know if you do too. Nick’s POV.
Chapter Seven
Here We Go Again
From the moment Shay told me that I was hot that one day in Psychology, I decided I had to have her. She was adorable, that was for sure. From her bright blue eyes to the sly grin she slipped from time to time, she was amazingly pretty, but she didn’t let it show through much. For the most part she wore clothes were too big for her petite figure. A belt always held up her jeans and very rarely was she not swimming in a shirt handed to her from one of her many brothers. But when Shay smiled, it seemed to light up a room and when that pink filled her cheeks it was almost too much for me to handle, not being able to kiss her.
So I decided I needed her.
“Oh damn.” I said, “We get out Friday, huh. I wonder if I’ll be able to handle two weeks with out Shay.”
She smiled at me, “I’m sure you’ll manage. Besides, I’m your wife, you have my number.”
I grinned remembering that. I did have her number. How come I hadn’t called her yet?

“Nick, man, are you up for tonight?” Derrick asked me as we walked off campus.
I automatically grinned, “If you’re bringing the weed then I’m in.”
Derrick laughed, “We can’t have a repeat of last weekend though, my parents almost didn’t believe me when I told them I had the flu.”
“My rents are out of town until Saturday, I’m all good.”
“Lucky bastard.”
We got on our skateboards and began to ride; we made our daily stop at the Mini Mart a few blocks from my house and continued to ride.
Derrick flopped on my bed, “Dude! I’m exhausted! That ride kills me!”
I laughed, “You’re just pathetic.”
“So Nick, what’s up with that Shay chick? Are you ever going to make a move or can I try?”
“Nah, I’m taking my time with this one, I really like Shay.” I felt my lips twitch upwards at the thought of her.
“Blah, blah, blah, you know Nicole is going to be pissed right? That chick doesn’t know when to give up.” Derrick made a good point. My latest ex was Nicole and she was no quitter and if one thing was for sure, she had her sights set on getting me back.
“Who cares? That woman is so bitter, I have no idea how I put up with her for a month.”
“I think it’s because she’s hot.” Derrick laughed.
I thought about Nicole, sure she was hot. Tall, thick brown hair, big brown eyes, nice body, but man, once you really got to know her, it was just insane, she complained and whined and made a snide remark towards everything! It was simply too much for me to handle, so I let her go.
“Yeah whatever, when are Riley and Daniel coming over?”
Derrick shrugged, “Riley has to go get us some drinks his brother’s the only one willing to buy it for us, but Daniel is bringing the pot, so I guess we just chill till then.”
I groaned, “Fine, how about some guitar hero?”
“Only if you want to lose.”
“Here we go again, Derrick, you never get it do you? I own you at this game.”

The next day, I regretted drinking. Some how it always came back to me, no matter how little I drank, but if I drank on a school day it just got worse.
Anyway it was the Friday before we got out for winter break and normally I looked forward to not having school for three weeks, but there was now the problem concerning my latest love interest, Shay. And normally if I wanted someone I’d just ask them out, but the case with Shay isn’t normal. Don’t ask me why, it just isn’t. There’s something about her big blue eyes that makes me want to make this perfect. To take the time to find out whom she was before I rushed in just trying to get in her pants.
“Don’t get too messed up over the break, man.” I was telling Derrick, he never seemed to know when enough was enough, and he always needed that one last drink, that one last drag. It bothered me, I was never one to worry about someone getting too wasted, but Derrick was like my little brother, I cared if he spent the night barfing on the street.
Derrick shrugged, “Hating life makes you want to forget.”
“What the hell are you talking about? Fool you have a perfect life.” I said shaking my head. He did really. Nice house, good parents, not the overrated perfect kind you see on TV. Or the ones that act perfect but really want to rip each others heads off, his parents were no where near ever divorcing, they accepted all of his friends, bought him whatever he needed, babied him because he was the youngest and he had tons of friends, he never complained about life because he had nothing to complain about.
Derrick laughed, “I know, it just seemed like a cool line to say, I saw it in a movie once.”
“All that marijuana is going to you head.” I shoved him and he grinned.
“Hey man, I have to go meet Daniel, catch up with you later.” Derrick then left and walked in the other direction.
I was headed to the cafeteria to buy lunch but then my name was called out.
I turned on my heel and found Shay walking towards me, a small red and green bag in her hands. I smiled at her. “Hey Shay, what’s up?”
“I, um, I, made, these… for you.” She mumbled holding up the bag.
I took the bag, opening it up and pulled out a sugar cookie, the aroma of it filled my nostrils and I almost shuddered they smelled so good. It was Christmas tree shaped, and I couldn’t help but smile again, she was just too cute.
I took a bite and I swear it was like ecstasy in a cookie. It was so amazingly delicious. “Oh God, these a re great.” I held the cookie out to her, “take a bite.”
“Oh no,” she blushed, “I made them I have some at home.”
That pink that filled her cheeks made me want to hug her, but I couldn’t yet. But I was determined to get her to take a bite from the cookie. “Shay, just take a bite.” I used my convincing voice, my confident voice, the one I used to lie when I needed to.
“Really Nick?”
“Just take a bite.”
She paused for a moment, looking at the cookie then back at me, and then back at the cookie and back at me, finally she leaned forward and took a bite from the sugar cookie in my hands. I felt triumphant, confident, on top of the world.
I grinned at her, “Thanks Shay.”
“O-oh, yeah, no problem.” She said stuttering. I loved how I made her so nervous. All the girls I’d dated before were either slutty or had been my friends for a while so they were used to me.
“Hey” I said, “You want to come get lunch with me?” I asked, hopeful she’d say yes.
“Oh,” she said, “I already have lunch already, Nolan is over there and he’s kind of waiting for me.”
Damn Nolan.
“Oh,” I didn’t try and mask the disappointment in my voice, I wanted her to know. “Alright then Shay, I’ll see you in sixth. Later.”
“Bye Nick.”
With one last smile I turned and walked away, the bag of heavenly cookies in my hands. Nolan, there was something about him I didn’t like. Something that screamed that he was more than best friend material. But there was no way in hell that I was going to loose Shay to him.
A/N: Hope you liked seeing things through Nick’s eyes, this let’s you know a little more about him than Shay knows, so I hope you liked it. Reviews are love!
