I walk through your abandoned streets

Searching for innocence in the eyes of a stray

Or a ray of light that shines to the thick clouds

That suck the oxygen from the air

Suffocating the beauty hidden in the sky

I wander with a purpose inside this nightmare image

Invisible hands tearing at my memories

Looking for the joy that they lost

Ghost that only feel phantom pain

Restless demons you shackled to your fears

Spitting hatred with flaming tongues

And every door I try to open crumbles

Leaving but a cold, threatening darkness

That spreads through beyond the borders of your mind

Escaping through the bitter words that spill from your lips

Creeping into your once soothing voice

Your thoughts laid bare by the creatures that draw on your brow

And the frost that strangles the fire in your eyes

Your skin is draped on protruding bones

Marred by the signature of time

Your life struggles written with scars

Your nearing death already visible in your gaze

But your lips stretch awkwardly against the pull of sorrow

Twisting upwards in an act of defiance

A battle fought inside the quirk of your mouth
