Inside my kitchen sink
A hidden battle is raging.
All the molecules from all the land
Come to pay homage to Water herself.
Phosphate with her four arms
Escorts each to the Temple.
The heads of the penitent
Are bowed in prostration.
All around the water molecules
Dance and weave, nod and drift away.
Behind their backs the pilgrims carry
A weapon designed by their greatest scientists.
The one thing Water could never stand was
the lack of entropy.
So the counterculture has formed
The perfect chimera.
A secret warrior taught to love Water
But at the mere sight of her his tail
Will lash out and strike
No more disorder, no more fear
Alas! Security checks have detected the tails!
Suddenly
Water is an army of electricity
Staving off the forces of order
The soap bubbles are perfect spheres,
Water protecting her children
by gently sculpting the perfect prison.
"Amphipathic" means we both suffer.
Sometimes I like to watch the bubbles form and die
The futile war of the armies of order
As my potato peels, lubricated,
enter the drain.
