The Science of Metamorphosis

A typical being of imperfection, error,
blissful ignorance of surroundings.

A large and glowing sugar cookie, moonlighting,
strongly intertwined with the sky at high tide.

A feeling of distant experience, curiosity
dissociative observations and movements.

A chosen victim appointed, intentionally,
never harboring the memory of change.

A paralyzing illness of nausea, confusion,
visual stimuli shattering posture like epilepsy.

A gripping asphyxiation, terror,
colors not a member of the visual spectrum.

A momentary possession of echoed voices, paranoia,
a foreign force tapping into a transformational torture.

A splitting of a genetic helix, mutation,
proteins replaced and spontaneously bonded with the unidentifiable.

A swapping of chromosomes, cytokinesis,
phenotypical display of majestic features from another consciousness.

A Parkinsonian loss of control for limbs and digits, spasming,
an undignified surrendering of a fragile form.

A twisting of the optic nerve, vividness,
infectious organelles floating in the vitreous body.

A peeling of the iris revealing a nuclear green with flecks of gold, nocturnal,
laser vision slicing through foggy breath in the bite of winter.

A rigid protraction of blades through smooth skin, bleeding,
oozing out a molten metal which sizzles on the soil.

A sandpapery shuddering of the dermis, opening,
follicles giving way to new twine bursting through.

A crushing of every existing bone, agonizing,
restructuring of a regenerating operating system.

A flaying of muscle tissue, burning,
spindles failing to provide rebound from wear and tear.

A fierce jaw boiling with the salivation of hunger, craving,
teeth glinting from the reflection of water droplets on surrounding leaves.

A spine-tingling and ground rumbling roar, rippling,
air full of warning to the mortal world.
