Critic

I force the words through my teeth
Because I could never get past the surface
Chiseling away at stubborn ice.
Moment of truth.
Everything you wanted
Everything I wanted
is coming to a head.
It's a matter
Of placing your feet correctly,
And starting at the gun,
Not after it.

Whisper truths
And I still pretend it's the wind.
Scream lies at me.
I'll turn the mirror on you.
And you can have a shouting match with it.
Take it and yell your heart out
Cry it out.
Come down from there.
Look into this glass.

Still clutching those old pearls,
Broken now,
Can't be fixed.
I told you about the surface,
You couldn't get past it.
Why am I still talking to my reflection?
