I need to stop writing bad wannabe-poetry. And possibly go see a therapist. Or something. Well, I guess writing this is a kind of therapy too, cause it actually made me feel better. :P

World of glass and stone

Looking out at the world
Watching it always go by
At a pace that seems too fast
And yet never quick enough

Feeling lost, being torn
No room for decisions
If you do this
Can it make you happy?
Will it make you cry?

Quiet, and so alone
Just the way you like it
Their happiness reminds you
Of the way you are so raw inside

You smile and everyone must see

A world of glass and stone
Your voice the only echo
Makes you feel -
Less broken inside
And not nearly so alone

Just close your eyes
Shut out the old world another time
Your heart is beating in a faltering rhythm
Close your eyes and wait a second
To remember you're alive.

It only really hurts then:
You compare them to you again
And find that you are far from normal:
There's something better, there is
Simply no way to reach it for you
You can't bridge the gap that's yourself

You feel you're walking in a world of glass
If you stumble dizzily it just might shatter
Then you can lay down amidst the shards
And breathe your relief into the air.
