The Light in the Dark

You walk through these darkened streets

As you have many times before.

Looking, searching for a heart that beats,

And never needing anything more.

But the dark can overwhelm, blind,

Choke, and isolate you.

And after much time passes you find

One needs a spark in the gloom

A single flame may light the way

To love, devotion, trust.

Even though you were made to stay

Alone until you're dust.

But one can always change the course

On which their life is a mark.

All they need is a pure light source;

It is called the light in the dark.
