I am the incessant silence

That refuses to be quiet

I am the doubtless shadows

Of your daydreams

I am the unacknowledged

Emotion you feel

I am your denied opportunities

And the hope you keep locked away

I am the negative side of the mirror

The downside of a flipped coin

I am your polar opposite

Reflected in a shattered piece of glass

I am a lost child who can never return

Until you abandon all hope of finding me again

I am a prisoner who can't escape

Until you lock me up and throw away the key

I am your forsaken identity

And I am every lie you've ever told

I am your three wishes never granted

And your dreams that won't come true

I am the sense of belonging

That comes with being an outcast

I am every line of this poem

That refuses to flow or rhyme or make sense

I am the wind in your hair

And the food in your ungrateful stomach

I am every thankless task ever completed for you

I am a life willingly given away

But never forgiven

I am every choice you make

I am a one-page-long success story

Never told for fear that others will try to be like me

I am an epic poem lifetime of failure

I am the quicksand at the bottom

Of a ceaseless fall from grace

I am freedom and liberty not existing anymore

And I am you...

Just as much as you are
